judge the 2011 Designer Jewelry Competition
Santa Barbara, Calif.--Alan Revere, Todd Reed and Merle White have been chosen to judge the 2011 Designer Jewelry Competition, a new contest established to recognize and honor hand-made jewelry design.
Revere is a pioneering goldsmith who is president of the American Jewelry Design Council and founder of the Contemporary Design group. Reed, who broke onto the jewelry scene with his use of uncut diamonds, is a winner of an AGTA Spectrum Award and runs a thriving jewelry line. White has been the editor-in-chief of the Lapidary Journal Jewelry Artists since 1986, and is a promoter of craft jewelry as well as a judge of key industry events.
Designers may compete in one or more of the contest's categories, which include gold/platinum up to $600, gold/platinum $600 - $3,000, gold/platinum above $3,000, silver up to $500, silver $500 - $1,500, silver above $1,500, mixed media up to $400 and mixed media above $400. In each category, jewelry may include gemstones. Belt buckles and watches will also be accepted in the competition.
First, second and third place winners will be recognized in each of these eight categories. These 24 winning designers will be featured in the 2012 print edition of the Designer Jewelry Showcase, and will appear on the home page of the contest's Web site.
Early entry deadline is July 20, and the final entry deadline is Aug. 22. Eligibility requirements and information about how to sign up online can be found here.
