1. Pre-register. Register ahead of time for all show badges, seminar and special events whenever possible. It saves time and eliminates standing in long lines. 2. Floor plans and exhibitors List. Go to the Hong Kong Jewellery and Gem Fair website and get a floor plan of the Hong Kong Convention & Exhibition Centre and/or the Asia-World Expo. This will help you understand where the product categories are located. Also, go through the exhibitor list in order to locate the vendors you want to see. If you don’t have a chance before the fair, get the show guide and mark where the vendors you want to see are located before entering the show. 3. Pack light. This may sound trite but it’s important. Take the minimum amount of clothes and business supplies you will need and pack it all in one large piece of checked baggage with ample room left over. You’ll need this space for brochures, tradeshows guides, magazines, gifts and anything else you collect during your stay. 4. Make appointments before the show. It saves time and provides a comfortable business environment to do business at the show. 5. Business supplies. Make sure you have business cards, sales and inventory reports, and other papers you may need to make orders and otherwise do business. This allows you to work with your vendors when discussing terms, discounts and other issues of importance.
6. Know your inventory needs. Try to plan about six months in advance. This makes your selection easier and establishes an outline for your product needs. Efficient purchasing will save you money by grouping your orders to take advantage of discounts and special offers.
7. Make a budget. Decide how much to spend at the show and stick with the plan. You can always add orders when you return. 8. Have specific goals. It’s the best way to evaluate your success at the show. |
