The nine jewelry designers taking part in a Cultured Pearl Association of America (CPAA) documentary have been named. These companies will film their pearl jewelry designs from concept to creation, giving the documentary's audience an in-depth look at the pearl’s journey to a jewelers showcase.
The designers are Paula Crevoshay of Albuquerque, N.M.; Zoltan David of Bee Cave, Texas; Joel Greene of East Providence, R.I.; Evelyn Huang of Los Angeles; Dilly Kirby of Harbor Springs, Mich.; Adam Neely of Laguna Beach, Calif.; Brenda Smith of Woodstock, Georgia; Llyn Strelau of Calgary, Canada and Jerry Tanaka of Honolulu, Hawaii.
Pearls gifted to the CPAA for use in the documentary include Akoya cultured pearls from Japan, South Sea golden cultured pearls from the Philippines, Fijian South Sea cultured pearls, bead nucleated freshwater cultured pearls from China, Tahitian cultured pearls from Tahiti, soufflé freshwater cultured pearls from China, Eyris Blue cultured pearls from new Zealand and fireball freshwater cultured pearls from China.
The final products will be entered into the CPAA’s second international design competition, and winners will be announced this fall.
The CPAA will auction each of the nine items, and money raised will directly benefit the company’s non-profit association, which promotes the education and awareness of cultured pearls in the United States.
The CPAA is a non-profit group founded in 1957 comprised of manufacturers, jewelry wholesalers, dealers and suppliers of cultured pearls in the United States, who aim to cultivate awareness, interest and demand of cultured pearls for the retail community.
