Jeweler expands silver jewelry lines

Silver jewelry brand LAGOS is capitalizing on the popularity of silver, expanding in both product delivery and the company's actual physical presence. The brand is expecting to see double-digit gains in future silver sales.
“Silver is the metal of the day. So while we’ve always been a strong silver company, we’ve taken a more methodical and analytical look at our product portfolio,” Chris Cullen, president of LAGOS, said. “We’ve been filling in gaps in styles, silhouettes and price points for our consumers.”
LAGOS' introduction of its Derby (below) and Silver Rocks collections has added faceted and smoother silver jewelry looks to the company’s inventory and further driven silver sales.

LAGOS’ Derby collection features silver buckle designs with the option of 18-karat gold and diamond accents.
“Silver Rocks has a more modern and somewhat edgier feel to it than some of the classic silver. So we’re diversifying between a classic and modern look,” Cullen said.
Cullen said the company has seen a positive consumer reaction to its expansion.
“We give customers a larger realm of shopping to do with us,” he said.
Cullen said the company is also pursuing future projects marketed toward the gift and item category, which, with the escalating price of metals, will aim to bring a broader consumer base to LAGOS.
“The Heart of New York” pendant, to be launched exclusively with Bloomingdale’s in August, was designed to celebrate iconic landmarks of the city. Available in sterling silver and sterling silver with 18-karat gold for a two-tone option, the piece follows earlier pendants capturing the nuances of cities such as Chicago and New Orleans.
“We see a big opportunity in this program,” Cullen said. “There will be a lot of pendants at a reasonable price range.”
The brand has also expanded its New York City showroom in the fashion district to include an outdoor space with a roof deck, which Cullen said is utilized for product launches and PR functions to raise LAGOS’ company profile.
Steven Lagos, jewelry designer and owner of the brand, has been working with silver since the company’s founding in 1977.
