GJEPC Announces Annual Awards Winners

RAPAPORT... The Gem & Jewellery Export Promotion Council (GJEPC) on Tuesday announced its 38th annual award winners in Surat to celebrate the performance of exporters, brands and local diamond companies. The event was attended by the Chief Minister of Gujarat, Narendra Modi,  the featured guest and the GJEPC chairman, Rajiv Jain, along with other committee members and trade people.

''These awards are an endeavor to acknowledge the winners who led the growth that we so proudly announced today and set their efforts as an example in front of the industry for the rest to emulate and imbibe,'' Jain said.

He added that with total export figures of around $43 billion, the GJEPC is furthering the cause of making India the global leader in the gem and jewelry sector.

''It is a matter for pride for me to be amongst such immense talent, and as always, the state of Gujarat pledges its support to the betterment of this industry,'' said Modi while speaking at the occasion. He added that Indian companies should look at acquiring diamond mines and there is a great opportunity for India in the world market.

In addition to recognizing the efforts of the exporters, the GJEPC also awarded the importers from across the globe and the banks financing the industry, among others.
