Haskell Jewels has acquired Robert Lee Morris, taking in the brand’s name, designs, archival materials, the designer’s QVC and department store lines, a retail store in SoHo and its license with the Andy Warhol Foundation, while Morris remains with the company in a design capacity.
“My new marriage with Haskell Jewels is symbolic of my cycle of self-reinvention,” Morris said. “Now it’s crucial that I move out of the rarified realm of fashion jewelry and return home to the very industry that I assisted in birthing in the mid-seventies.”
Gabrielle Fialkoff, president of Haskell Jewels, says “the sky is the limit” regarding the new partnership and that the company plans to work closely with Morris to open more stores, create brand extensions and cultivate a strong designer brand for the retail market with a tentative re-launch for fall 2012.
“We really feel that Robert is a true innovator and designer and one of the industry’s true talents,” Fialkoff said. “Since he’s started, he’s had a profound influence not only on jewelry design, but on the young talent we see today from his collaborations.”
Morris is a triple CFDA winner, including being a recipient of the Geoffrey Beene Lifetime Achievement Award in 2007.
Haskell Jewels is a United States costume jewelry designer and manufacturer with licenses that include Kenneth Cole, Simply Vera for Kohls and Betsey Johnson jewelry and watches.
